This is a nice example of an early Eickhorn clamshell Hirschfanger hunting cutlass with etched blade , bearing the early back to back squirrel trade mark registered in 1910 .
Hunting scenes with hunter and deer in the woods to blade , forgive my photos as etched blades are notoriously difficult to photograph ..you are recommended to come and inspect this piece in hand .
This is a rarer pattern with an enclosed D shaped knucklebow guard finished in Deer hoof rather than a standard open crossguard , a luxury model offered by Eickhorn .
A green hunting association troddel or knot is attached to the grip and i think this is the correct pattern for the WW2 era which means this could have also been carried in that period which was allowed with such pieces as were private purchase . This knot alone is a valuable item and dagger collectors will recognise this and worth £50+ as its an original
